First and foremost, you have a choice about the way you feel and react even if it doesn't seem that way right now. Anxiety and stress can feel very different from one person to the next.  Sometimes a crushing tightness in your chest or sweating. Maybe shaking or trembling, stomach cramps or the feeling that we just have to run away or lash out. At that moment it can be hard to think clearly.


.....Afterwards, we feel embarrassed or angry that we didn't cope or worse than that swearing that we'll 'never try that again', 'never go there again', 'never speak to that person again' and we feel smaller, more lonely, more disconnected and the feelings become overwhelming.


Anxiety and stress are sneaky and can make us fearful.  Informing and controlling our thinking and behaviour without us really knowing why something makes us nervous or uncomfortable.


We're constantly on alert waiting for something bad to happen again and the anxious feeling in our body becomes familiar and overwhelming at the same time.
